Sea Bangor Weekend

Last weekend Bangor, N Ireland, held its annual Sea Bangor Festival. The weather, as usual, was wet, thundery and really quite cloudy. It is a lovely event which also helps to showcase local food specialities in a large marquee giving everyone the chance of sample something new. I had a lovely plate of paella, not very local but I love paella!

It is also a time to support our local coastguard and lifeboat crews who do invaluable work keeping everyone safe on our waters.

There was a special tent to keep the kiddies entertained, a beer tent, model boats and also a tent with local entertainers and storytellers telling us of life in the good old days.

Along the pier we had a tall ship which took people around the bay, entertainers of various descriptions and also some local crafts people demonstrating fly fish tying and a particular favourite of mine making baskets by hand.

I will leave you with a few photos of the day.

Hi Stephanie, All I can say is I agree with The Fairy Queen, OMG!!
What a magical scene. The dock reminds me of hobart but everything else is soooo Irish. i love the mystical grey sky and the buildings are beautiful. Give me a bit of history anytime.
Glad you had a lovely day.

Hi Stephanie, a great day it seems and what a great chance to support the local rescue teams. Pity about the weather. Hugs Margie.
